Essence of an Elk
Elk antlers are a wonder of nature. The bull begins to grow new antlers each spring (can grow one inch per day). By early fall they can proudly display a 40 lb pair of antlers, just in time to spar over the female elk in Cataloochee Valley (Great Smoky Mountains National Park). Image taken: Sept 2017
